Beaming The Light, Running with The Vision
Matt. 16:18- “and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it”.
In 1973 and in the city of Kano, Kano State of Nigeria, the word of God came to a young and successful businessman; JOSHUA BABALOLA OLUWAGBEMIGA OLA-OJO. He received a divine commission in his dream to become the human agent to found the JESUS IS LIGHT MINISTRIES (LIGHT CHAPEL). The vision was vivid and the man of God was willing.
By divine direction, he left his former place of worship, which God showed him to be shrouded in darkness. God then took him by the hand to a particular location within Kano city where he found a church bathed in the glorious light of God. This ministry drew its origin and name from that experience.
Psalm 110:3- “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning…” It all began as a fellowship in the living room of the man of God. Originally known as FIRST CHRIST CHURCH OF LIGHT, the Ministry adopted its present name JESUS IS LIGHT MINISTRIES, a.k.a LIGHT CHAPEL in 1990, to reflect better on the focus of spreading the light of Jesus in the darkness of this world.
We are a ministry geared towards the meeting of every spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the 21st century man and woman, urban and rural dwellers alike.
This Ministry presently has its headquarters in Lagos, and eight other branches in different parts of Nigeria. It was a seed sowed in faith a mustard seed that has grown into a mighty oak – The JESUS IS LIGHT MINISTRIES Worldwide.
Indeed, the words of Isaiah in Chapter 2 verse 2- “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills. And all nations shall flow to it”. is being fulfilled concerning Light Chapel.
Psalm 66:10-12; “For you God, have proved us; you have refined us as silver is refined you brought us into the net; you laid affliction on our backs you have caused men to ride over our heads. We went through fire and through water but you brough us out to rich fulfilment”.
The ministry has gone through experiences that have strengthened and matured her. There have been the many heights by the grace of God and the few lows that were really God’s way of bringing His church out to rich fulfillment. Many have been the times of test and trial for the man-of-God. Apostle B.O. Ola-Ojo whom God has indeed tested and proven as an instrument in His hands. Here is one man who believed that there is absolutely nothing too big to sacrifice for the gospel of God to advance into every nook and cranny of the world. He indeed sacrificed his flourishing businesses to fully embrace the propagation of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in Nigeria and all over the world.
Indeed, Apostle B.O. Ola-Ojo was one man of God who truly lived the words of Apostle Paul in Romans 8:35, 37; “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulations, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword… yet in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us”.
The times of trial and test have served their purpose to prepare the man of God, and indeed the Ministry for future greatness; for indeed we are more than conquerors, through Christ – Hallelujah!
To the glory of God, hundreds of people have given their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ through the ministry over the years. Today, we are particularly delighted that some of these brethren are now Pastors, Ministers and Deacons occupying various positions of responsibilities within the Lord’s vineyard and positively impacting their various communities and nations.
Many notable testimonies were recorded in the ministry out of the Lord’s mercy and compassion over the years.
PSALM 90:4 “For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past and like a watch in the light”.
Our years of service in the sight of man, may indeed seem a long time, but when juxtaposed to the eternal purpose of the Church, it is just the beginning.
Imbued with this truth, we are positioned to pursue the vision of God for the Ministry with new vigor, renewed anointing being supernaturally re-charged for dynamic advancement. The divine task of bringing everyman out of the world and the word to everyman shall be pursued apace to the Glory of our God and in fulfilment of the Founder’s divine call.
Jesus is Light Ministries, a.k.a Light Chapel has its headquarters in Lagos, where its Cathedral is situated.
The General Overseer; Pastor Bayo Funso Adaramola esq;JP. heads the Ministry, as the Chairman of the Council of Elders, which is constituted by four other Senior Pastors and eminent Elders as follows: Pastor Mark Olaniyi, the National Zones Coordinator; Pastor Sunday Awazie; Pastor Oladipo Daramola in charge of Lagos Zone; and Elder Modupe Igbalajobi esq. (Mrs).
