“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, 1 set you apart, I appointed you as a prophet to nations”. So, it was with Apostle Babalola Oluwagbemiga Ola-Ojo; the Founder Jesus is Light Ministries.
Apostle B.O. Ola-Ojo of blessed memory was born in 1938 to the family of late Chief Daniel and Mrs Abigail Ola-Ojo. He attended Methodist Primary School, Ikole Ekiti, trained as a teacher at the African Church Teachers Training College, Ikere Ekiti and attended Nigerian’s Premier University; the University of Ibadan, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) Degree in History in 1969.
He was a humble and confident servant of God, who put aside and behind him, the glitter and razzmatazz of success in the business world to humbly serve his Lord and the Master of his generation, and in the true words of Charles Spurgeon, “the tree grows best skyward that grows most downwards…”
He was, by all standards, an accomplished and a successful businessman.
From atop the business world, God called him in a vision and brought him out of darkness into the marvelous light of His dear Son.
His teaching background made the teaching of the word natural for him. The Apostle was a consummate and anointed teacher of the word of God. He preached the word with great anointing and invested his personal wealth in the spreading of the gospel.
Apostle Ola-Ojo was a man of God that did not believe that there was anything too big to give up, any pain too much to bear, or any sacrifice too expensive to make in his determination to do that which is the most important in the heart of God i.e. bringing salvation to the lost souls and turning them to the knowledge of His truth (1 Tim. 2:4). He was a servant of God who knew that “the greatest of man’s power is the measure of his surrender.
Apostle Ola-Ojo invested enormous resources from his flourishing business into the work of the Ministry. He was also a tested and proven instrument (Ps. 66:10) in the hands of God to impact this generation with the power of the word of God.
He was married to Pastor (Mrs.) Emily Morenike Ola-Ojo and blessed with many children.
The immediate past General Overseer; Pastor (Mrs.) Emily Morenike Ola- Ojo is a qualified teacher, who after completing her teacher training course, took teaching jobs at various institutions.
It was whilst she was undergoing her teacher training programme at the African Teacher Training College in 1959, that she met her husband; the late Babalola Oluwagbemiga Ola[1]Ojo. The relationship between her and the late ‘Gbemiga blossomed and in April 1962, the two got married.
Together, they embarked on a journey of love, faith, and the Ministry. Their union was blessed with many children natural, adopted and spiritual, who brought immense joy and fulfilment to their lives. Today, Emily Morenike Ola-Ojo is a proud grandmother of many beautiful grandchildren.
In 1973, Emily Morenike, together with her late husband was instrumental in founding the Jesus is Light Ministries in Kano. She took on the helm of leadership of Jesus is Light Ministries as the General Overseer, after the passing of her husband; the late Spiritual Leader and Apostle of Jesus is Light Ministries, in September 2005.
She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to this role, and to the spreading of the message of God’s love and hope.
As General Overseer, her faith, resilience, and courage has been evident in every aspect of her ministry. She is a woman of great faith, who devoted her time and energy to the word of God, serving the church and nurturing the spiritual growth of those under her care, and she continues to do so to date.
Pastor Emily Morenike Ola-Ojo is known for her unwavering faith and her strong prayer life. She is a member of numerous prayer groups, where she intercedes on behalf of others and seeks God’s guidance and provision. Her commitment to prayer is a testament to her deep trust in God and her desire to see His will fulfilled in the lives of those around her.
Beyond her spiritual endeavours, Pastor Emily Morenike is a woman of joy and laughter. Her infectious laughter and warm personality make her a pleasure to be around. She radiates a genuine love for people and has a natural ability to make others feel seen, heard, and valued
