The Power Systems Service Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the Service Department. This role supports the Power Systems division that provides a wide range of solutions to include electric power generation, oil and gas, industrial, and truck operations and is responsible for conducting business in a manner that supports Wagner’s vision of “One Professional Team creating a premier customer experience with market leading solutions”.

Pay Range: $102,800.21 - $141,351.59 Annually

Pay range is dependent upon education & experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee daily service operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Partners with safety department to oversee the execution of safety programs and training.
  • Works with direct reports and VP of Power Systems to develop annual forecasts and budget.
  • Manage service department supervisors and support them with hiring, training, performance evaluations, and scheduling of employees.
  • Support the development and mentoring of technicians, including apprentices.
  • Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the service team.
  • Implement processes to ensure vehicles have proper maintenance and are maintained for safety and all tooling is calibrated and maintained
  • Ensure adherence to Caterpillar standards and dealership policies for repairs, safety, and customer service.
  • Work closely with customers to address concerns, explain repairs, and maintain strong relationships.
  • Monitor and control department expenses, labor efficiency, and productivity to meet financial goals.
  • Develop and implement service strategies to drive business growth and improve operational performance.
  • Track and influence service metrics such as turnaround time, technician efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee warranty claims processing, including documentation, submission, and follow-up with Caterpillar.
  • Coordinate with parts, sales, and warranty departments to ensure seamless workflow and customer support.
  • Works closely with new and aftermarket sales teams to ensure projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Stay current on Caterpillar product updates, technical bulletins, and training opportunities.
  • Plans short and long-term requirements on equipment and facilities and makes recommendations to supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory requirements related to service operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct reports include: Service Supervisors.
  • Hires, trains, and directs staff to safely and efficiently perform their duties.
  • Provides on-going performance feedback, and conducts timely annual performance reviews, making recommendations for status or salary adjustments.
  • Ensures service coverage on weekends, holidays, and for emergency work.
  • Works with Wagner Training Institute to assess and meet training needs for employees.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years in a position with increasing responsibilities preferred
  • 1+ years sales experience preferred
  • 3+ years administrative/clerical experience preferred
  • 3+ years supervisory/management experience preferred
  • 5+ years customer service experience preferred
  • 5+ years technical or mechanical experience preferred

  • Medium work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 32 pounds or more
