Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf course in Whites Creek, Tennessee is looking for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
As part of the Agronomy leadership team, this role will be instrumental in managing the agronomic calendar and overseeing all daily operations. Joining the founding management team provides a rare opportunity to help shape and establish the club from inception. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a forward-thinking, innovative mindset.
Duties:
• Support daily operations to ensure the golf course and grounds meet the highest standards.
• Supervise and train grounds crew in maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, and course setup.
• Works closely with the Superintendent in preparing short-term and long-term agronomic plans.
• Monitor turf conditions, implement best practices in agronomy, pest control, and disease management.
• Operate and maintain equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist with planning and executing special events or tournaments.
• Oversee record-keeping for chemical applications, water usage, and course expenditures.
• Ensure all work complies with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Possess a positive attitude and have high attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and club members in a professional manner.
Requirements:
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
Valid Tennessee Pesticide Applicator’s license (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
Knowledge of golf course equipment operation and maintenance.
Experience Requirements
2+ years of progressive experience in golf course or sports turf management.
Familiarity with modern irrigation systems and troubleshooting.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Special Requirements
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Compensation:
$65,000 – $75,000 per year.
